Inscription on a Door
(after Tudor Arghez, loosely)
For Rachel
When you go
May good fortune go with you,
A jewel lighting an interesting road
On which troubles jar, but cannot defeat you.
And may your destination be the one you'd wish for
Where you find good fortune coming to greet you.
When you come
May it always be coming home,
For anyone, this lintel proclaiming welcome,
Dispelling cares, compelling laughter and song.
Then will you feel loved, and all others dear,
And every day this small home blessed.
