A Huge Unfairness Undermines the World
As when a loved one departs
- Something shocking, say your child
Killed in a car accident
Through your neglect
Or your lover, who has made you happy
Leaves
As abruptly as that
And you are disembowelled, disentrailed,
The core of you empty
And all of you sick with the emptiness
And yet you go on because you have to
- The normal ways -
And nobody knows.
The hugeness beggars belief
But this figment is a fact
Far beyond economics
Profound and metaphysical
The poison in the spiritual
The legacy of the Fall
The scandalous injustice
That is the fate of us all.
